Stop Waiting for Something BAD to Happen!

Image
It shouldn’t take something bad to happen for you to make changes in your life. Whether it’s a large change or a small one. Tragedy should never be the sole catalyst for change. It would seem as if the majority of people only instigate change when they’re forced to. When something has gone so terribly wrong that there’s no other option but to change. To me, this seems far too late. What if there was a way of preventing the relative tragedy and catching it early?  I think it’s somewhat inbuilt into us to avoid addressing problems. It’s never convenient or appealing. It’s a hard unforgiving option. You have to become super honest with yourself and confront all sorts of difficult truths. There might not even be a clear answer, it may take some time to figure out the way forward. You have to take an incredibly harsh and honest look at yourself and your direction. Are you happy with where you’re headed? Whether it’s one specific area of your life or your whole direction in general...

The Call to Wisdom

Image
This is a poem I wrote. The spoken word version is available via video (link at the bottom of the page!) - Thanks very much and enjoy!  The Call to Wisdom Hollow knocking, Skies that blur, Calling for your attention, Time to wake up. A strange sense of peace upon you, Where is your place in history? Assess your existence, Time grinds forwards, Are you being left behind, Or do you move with purpose? Keep working, Keep dreaming, For the world will reward you, Someday. Sacrifice is glory, Sweat your friend, Stand back, And see life for what it is, Be silent, Absorb the chance to be exceptional. Now all that's left, Is to make a decision, Look to where your path leads, And know that the work makes sense.  Zach Ascot

How to Overcome the Fear of Failure!

Image
Failure is something we’re programmed to hate. It’s only natural, why would we enjoy it? Failure is a hardship, it’s a disappointment. It’s also the greatest humbling and learning tool. We should not be afraid to fail in whatever we undertake. I came to a profound realisation whilst ruining my knees during my exercise. (Spoiler: they're okay now!)  I was attempting ‘speed squats’ with reasonably heavy weights. Needless to say, it didn’t go well. After a good few sessions of doing this, my knees were starting to suffer. I stopped the speed squats and returned back to my original way of squatting in a more controlled manner. As I returned to the old way I still felt pain in my knees. I remember thinking to myself, I should be really irritated about this. Why am I so calm? The answer hit me. There’s always tomorrow.  I have committed to exercise and to myself for the long term. My knees will heal. I’m in this for the duration. This small brief window of a mistake and failure ...

TV Auditions are turning me off!

Image
It’s always been an ambition of mine to appear on TV. Whether that’s for career purposes or ego I’m not entirely sure. It’s probably a bit of both. The truth is I want to be able to spread my message and help as many people as possible. Whether that's either achieved through my philosophy or comedy. I’ve recently set myself 7 big goals I’m working to achieve. 2 of these goals reference TV. As someone who is familiar with TV auditions, I know what’s involved with the TV process. It’s a long road. The audition process isn’t the problem, it’s the bias. This may sound like I’m being sour and bitter but there is a bias in television casting. Ultimately it’s up to the executive producers and casting staff to fulfil their vision. That’s fine and I respect their creative freedom, unfortunately, it’s at the expense of mine. I do believe that there are certain stories and areas of representation that should be fulfilled on TV. Ultimately it is a public platform and they do have a duty to...

Why pursue mediocrity?

Image
This is the transcript from my video 'Why pursue mediocrity' - I hope this message brings you some value, enjoy!  Why pursue mediocrity when a world full of excellence awaits for you?  When faced with our own ambitions and deciding who to be, Why do we always hold onto mediocrity? The pursuit of our dreams and happiness should never be held back by something that's always going to be there for us. Mediocrity isn't going anywhere.  We'll always have the opportunity to be average.  If we follow our dreams and fail, The safety net of being average will catch us and welcome us back. At least we tried to escape. Not everyone makes it. But everyone should at least try. We're all faced with a choice between mediocrity and greatness, So why not take the first step towards your dreams, Instead of starting or aiming towards the safety net of mediocrity. Your dreams may take a while to flourish, They may even make you poor, But spiritually you'll be...

Sink with a Smile

Image
This is a poem I wrote, it's meaning is open to interpretation. The spoken word version is available via video (link at the bottom of the page) - Thanks very much and enjoy!  Sink with a Smile Tonight I'm in no mood for dancing, The man in the office, You know the one, He's got a nice tie, He tells you who you're gonna be, In the name of education. He sat me down, Looked me in the eye and told me, There's nothing here for you, Sorry son, You've gotta go join a rock n'roll band. Well that's what I heard anyway. Let me tell you this, Circles don't fit squares. Ram a circle into a square if you dare, You'll have to make that square so large, That it takes my soul with it, Only then might you get me, But it'll never be a perfect fit, Just smothered and suffocated.  The internal beast of truth, Will never tolerate perceived normality, It's only instinct is to rebel, Insanity is preferable, Instability a comfort, ...

True Love Smiles when saying Goodbye (Instagram Musings #3)

Image
These thoughts are expanding on my video ‘7 Big Goals I’m working on to Achieve!’ — Enjoy! I’m a firm believer in true love. I’m also a saggy believer too. Love can exist in all forms. A beautiful blissful relationship is something that I’ve always envisaged. I just want to feel what true love feels like at least once. Even if it doesn’t last forever. I want to be able to always carry around that feeling inside me and feel content. The feeling of being fortunate enough that it even happened. True meaning comes from love. If my partner wanted to leave me for whatever reason it would hurt a lot, but ultimately it would be the right thing for her to do. That’s why I’d feel inclined to apologise. I hadn’t fulfilled her needs. If you truly love someone you have their best interests at heart even if it doesn’t serve your own desires. I know you’re out there somewhere. I believe we have the potential to do anything we truly want to. That’s great news, but it’s not as simple as that....

My Dynamic Warm Up Routine for Home Gym Exercise, Shadow Boxing - Full Body and Stretching (Part 1)

Image
This is expanding on my YouTube video showing Part 1 of my exercise warm-up routine. Please see the video if you want to see exactly how I performed the exercises. This is just a summary of the exercises I do and why I do them. Thanks! Warming up is super important. Through years of experience the more I’ve come to realise this. Not only does warming up give you a better exercise session (improved performance) it also reduces your chances of getting injured. Making sure everything you’re going to be using is stretched and limber is something I always took for granted. Not any more! How to Change Your Mind!

Image
When you’re set on something, it’s hard to have your mind changed. Sometimes though, it’s in your long term best interest to have your mind altered to a different perspective even if it doesn’t appear to be the right direction/decision. We limit ourselves subconsciously. There are certain biases that hold us back and even make us unhappy. An open-minded approach could solve all of this. Until people see things for themselves they’ll never change from advice alone. It doesn’t matter even if the advice is brilliant and correct! I’m sure you’ve had an instance where you’ve had someone tell you to do something in a certain way and you’ve ignored their advice. You’ve then gone off to do things your own way. Unfortunately, through difficulty and learning the hard way you ended up seeing things the same way as the person who gave you the original advice! They were right all along! If only you’d listened the first time! Wouldn’t it be great if we could cut out ‘learning the hard way?’. Than...
