How to Change Your Mind!

When you’re set on something, it’s hard to have your mind changed. Sometimes though, it’s in your long term best interest to have your mind altered to a different perspective even if it doesn’t appear to be the right direction/decision. We limit ourselves subconsciously. There are certain biases that hold us back and even make us unhappy. An open-minded approach could solve all of this.

Until people see things for themselves they’ll never change from advice alone. It doesn’t matter even if the advice is brilliant and correct! I’m sure you’ve had an instance where you’ve had someone tell you to do something in a certain way and you’ve ignored their advice. You’ve then gone off to do things your own way. Unfortunately, through difficulty and learning the hard way you ended up seeing things the same way as the person who gave you the original advice! They were right all along! If only you’d listened the first time! Wouldn’t it be great if we could cut out ‘learning the hard way?’. Thankfully, there is a way.

Open-minded research. This is the cure. It’s not an easy one, especially if your mind is made up. You have to actively acknowledge your own bias and be willing to take on board the views of others. If you make it to the end of this process it’s truly powerful. It can unlock new avenues you’ve never explored. New outlooks leading to new actions. Or in some cases, you may even just prove that you were right in the first place! That’s another solid reason why open-minded research is worth it. Proving the other person wrong can result in you strengthening your viewpoint and conviction. Leading you further onto the correct path for you as an individual.

Being set in your beliefs is an admirable trait. However, it is crucial to have an open mind and embrace the views of others. It may just change you and your pursuits for the better.
