My Experience as Big Brother Housemate!

Image
Back in 2012, I auditioned for Big Brother. I made it to the last stage of the long and challenging audition process. I was shortlisted into the final 50 potential housemates. Sadly I didn’t make the cut and wasn’t part of the 2012 summer series. Towards the end of the year, I received a phone call from Big Brother. It was one of the producers. They explained to me that Big Brother runs a ‘Rehearsal Housemate’ program. What this meant was that housemates who Big Brother felt they had ‘missed a trick on’ and ‘may have turned out to be brilliant housemates’ would get a chance to re-audition. This wasn’t just a regular audition, this was pitched to me as the ‘ultimate audition’, for a very good reason. It was going to take place in the actual Big Brother house, under the same conditions as the show. Apparently every year before the Celebrity series, Big Brother would have this trial run for a few select people who auditioned that missed out on the summer series. It served two pur...

How to Connect a Sega Mega Drive / Genesis to a Flat screen TV!

Image
The Sega Mega Drive has to be one of my all time favourite consoles. It has a special place in my heart. It was the first video game console I ever played! Growing up I’d spend hours playing on the Sega and I have very fond memories. Fast forwards to 2019 and I was wanting to reconnect with some nostalgic bliss. I found my old Sega in the loft along with a huge bunch of black spaghetti which resembled wires. After trying all the old school wires into my modern TV, things weren’t going well. I did have a retro TV that I could play Sega on but that was also packed away. It’s a very heavy TV and you have to manually change the TV from black and white to colour each time. This doesn’t sound like a big deal, but the remote is very badly worn and it only works half the time! There’s also the issue of space! After some research online, I finally found my answer. I needed a Sega Mega Drive / Genesis ‘AV Cable’. I managed to pick one up on eBay for about £5 (approx $6.50). If you want to b...

7 Big Goals I’m working on to Achieve!

Image
My YouTube channel is more than just a YouTube channel. It’s a place where I’m documenting my journey. My journey towards making my dreams a reality. Here are the 7 big goals I’m working on to achieve! I’m not a fan of limits. Whether it’s a modest ambition or a small goal. I like something big. Something that excites the soul and seems almost impossible. To me, that’s where the proper dreaming starts. It’s essential that people question your sanity. So let’s elaborate further and you can also gauge my sanity! Before embarking on this journey to making my dreams a reality I wrote a small verse which encapsulates my feelings towards the pursuit: ‘I’ve seen what true love looks like, happiness and that dreams do come true. All that’s left now is to embrace and to experience.’ Big Goal Number 1: Get a book published: I’m not interested in writing fiction, that just isn’t my scene. My vision of a book is either a small collection of my poetry or an autobiography style book that ...

Discipline Doesn’t Care About Your Feelings - (Instagram Musings #2)

Image
I’ve started the journey and commitment to making my dreams a reality! — However, the process of getting started isn’t an easy one. Everybody says ‘just start’ but it’s more complicated than that. Starting a big pursuit in a sustainable way takes something more. You have to be in the correct mindset to be ready to make a true commitment. A commitment where discipline rules and excuses are a thing of the past. Where sacrifice is glory. A true commitment is a big thing. A commitment where you dedicate a large proportion of your time and energy into something irrespective of how successful it is. Delivering on your promises to yourself, no matter how hard things get. That is a true commitment, and it’s not one that can be made lightly. This is why your mind must be in the right place to make such a vow. It took me a long time to get to that place. Lots of introspection and self-honesty. It was a tough and dark path to tread. I eventually came out of the darkness, changed but ready. C...

Strange Paths and Artistic Freedom  -  (Instagram Musings #1)

Image
The path we choose in life matters. You’ve got to make your way to the path that was intended for you. Even if you’re currently travelling on the wrong one, with the right vision it can lead you to where you’re supposed to be. The mainstream routes of life never suited me. You’ve got to get in touch with what you truly want. I’ve always known that I never would achieve true success and happiness through mainstream routes. Especially when it came to success on my terms! That’s why you have to take strange routes. The truth is, they only appear to be strange from the perspective of outsiders. To you, it should make perfect sense. If you know where you’re headed, strange non-mainstream routes can truly bring out your best. I wrote a poem (The Mysterious Death of a Creator) when I hit an all-time low in my online creativity. I felt I was producing content just for the sake of trends. It was as if there wasn’t a place for pure self-expression as it wouldn’t be valued by the almighty ...

Starting isn't easy

Image
After what seemed to be years of planning, I was finally in the correct head-space to start pursuing my dreams. It had been a long time coming, with many disappointments and slight mental meltdowns along the way (with only some them being about my hair!). I had to drag my mind out of a dark place filled with worry and stress. I rescued myself from the darkness and moved towards the light, beyond any problems, surpassing planning and entering the glorious mode of 'doing'.  The night before my start date (10th March 2019) I watched a healthy helping of motivational videos and strategic morning routine videos. I was getting myself pumped and braced for my journey. This didn't involve injecting steroids and adopting the 'heads down' position. No, this was a mental game. One I was determined to win. I reconnected with some of the first motivational videos I had ever watched when I first started the journey to becoming 'enlightened'.  So what have...

The Mysterious Death of a Creator

Image
This is a poem I wrote about my past experience being a creator on YouTube and other similar sites. I've adapted it into video form, so if you have a spare 2 minutes I'd really appreciate it if you could give it a watch! Enjoy!  Click here to watch the video! The Mysterious Death of a Creator  I hate to interrupt the show but something terrible has happened. The creator we have come to know is missing. Only the worst can be presumed, A young man doomed. What caused this? Why dismiss creative bliss? Please turn back, Otherwise goodbye Zach.  The missing creator now wonders, With freedom on his mind, Longs for an audience so kind, Where art exists purely,  Leaving the mainstream behind.  New roads unravel, Still with no guide, A blank expanse and meaningless horizon, Where will my answers reside? I walk the road right, I walk the road left, Trying to separate from all the rest, Strange roads bring out m...
