7 Big Goals I’m working on to Achieve!
My YouTube channel is more than just a YouTube channel. It’s a place where I’m documenting my journey. My journey towards making my dreams a reality. Here are the 7 big goals I’m working on to achieve!
I’m not a fan of limits. Whether it’s a modest ambition or a small goal. I like something big. Something that excites the soul and seems almost impossible. To me, that’s where the proper dreaming starts. It’s essential that people question your sanity. So let’s elaborate further and you can also gauge my sanity!
Before embarking on this journey to making my dreams a reality I wrote a small verse which encapsulates my feelings towards the pursuit:
‘I’ve seen what true love looks like, happiness and that dreams do come true. All that’s left now is to embrace and to experience.’
Big Goal Number 1: Get a book published:
I’m not interested in writing fiction, that just isn’t my scene. My vision of a book is either a small collection of my poetry or an autobiography style book that documents my journey to ‘success’. The other style of book that appeals to me is a format where you include short pieces such as articles like this. Yes, one day I want to compile all my short pieces of writing into one book under their respective headings.
That means as I type this, I truly believe that one day this exact article you’re reading right now will appear in one of my books! Isn’t that crazy? I’m sitting here on a chair we were given for free whilst wearing a semi ruined brown woollen fleece that I was also given. That feels strange. — But I see it. I really see it. Thanks for buying the book by the way. Also just to clarify this wasn’t an add on, it’s really me typing this in 2019. I’m pre-empting that this is in the book and you’ve purchased it. That’s the power of visualisation.
Back in 2018, I had a go at writing a book. It was tedious, to say the least (and I’m not just talking about my writing!). The amount of rules and regulations when it comes to writing is utterly mind-boggling. You basically have to qualify as an editor to stand a chance. After a few arduous chapters, I decided it wasn’t for me. The sheer amount of words required may seem obvious but when you have to hit a word count whilst maintaining a high standard, it’s incredibly demanding. I’ve also never liked the process of trying to impress a publisher. I’m making my own path, and I don’t want to be reliant on anybody. The demand I create around myself shall be sufficient and not based on whether I used a comma in the right place. Such, a, rebel,!
Big Goal Number 2: Improve my fitness (montage):
I currently have an exercise routine that I stick to every other day come rain, shine, illness or just about anything! However, I’m not where I want to be physically. I’ve had to overcome quite a few minor exercise injuries and they still niggle at me to this day. The majority of them are under control but it’s really been a case of trial and error and learning the hard way.
I’m not entirely sure how I’ll end up looking physically. There’s a balance in my mind when it comes to the practicality of the routine (time wise) and also including exercises that I like. Sustainability is super important as this is a life long commitment.
I’m always altering my routine in accordance with improvement and injury prevention. I am going to start documenting my exercise routines and my progression. I think a ‘transformation’ video may happen one day but I’m slightly concerned there isn’t going to be that much of a physical transformation. It’s not so much about how I look it’s about how I feel and what I can do. I’m not into muscle building, that’s just a nice bonus of exercise.
I’m not even sure where the finish line is for my exercise. You can always do more and be better. I’m moving towards being content. I want to feel as if I’m happy with the level I have achieved and I’m reasonably pain free. I envisage a Rocky style training montage to signify the ‘end’ of my exercise journey. I see myself raising my arm up in victory. Overcoming injury and my mentality. Self pride. An inspiration to others. Showing what it takes to commit to your body and health.
Big Goal Number 3: Feature on a TV show (That I like!):
Yes, that is correct! In the past, I’ve come super close to featuring on a TV show! I was about an inch away from being a televised Housemate on Big Brother. Being on TV itself isn’t enough because I can be seen as an audience member during the filming of ‘Top Gear’. I want to feature, to star.
Not any TV show will do, it needs to be a show I actually like. Audition processes for TV shows are very time consuming so you really need to be committed and truly interested in the program you’re applying for. I only tend to work well when I’m truly interested in something. So if I don’t actually like the program I won’t give it my all. At the time of writing this, there are a few TV shows I have my eye on. I have a vision of how things will unfold. I’m going to spend 2019 building my online audience and then begin auditing for TV shows in 2020. Wow 2020, that sounds super futuristic. This way I’ll have had time to refine my camera presence and also have built an audience/following.
When I land this TV role, I’m going to be pretty tasteless and buy a ‘As Seen On TV’ t-shirt. TV isn’t everything however. I ultimately am striving towards creative freedom. Whether that’s achieved via TV or the Internet I’m not picky. Stay tuned.
Goal Number 4: Host my own TV show (Late Night, Comedy, Travel):
This is the big one! I would describe this as the hardest and most ambitious goal of the lot. I will be hosting my own TV show. I have a vision of America. I know if I can establish myself in England and build a name for myself I’ll be able to break into the American market.
The real dream would be to host an American Late Night style show. I’ve always been inspired by Late Night host Conan O’Brien. If I could have even a fraction of a career like his, I’d be truly fulfilled. I love his format of Late Night. Classic interviews and ‘remote’ segments where he goes off into the world for comedic effect.
If the show I end up hosting isn’t a Late Night show it needs to be comedy based. I see myself going around filming ‘remote’ style pieces visiting people and places. I also envisage hosting a comedy travel show. No, not your regular boring travel show explaining the wonders of a place. It would consist of an idiot (me) going around seeing things and making situations funny. I know if I can make this content successful on the internet it will translate and ultimately be picked up by TV. So stay more tuned!
Goal Number 5: Find True Love:
This has been something I’ve always longed for in life. If I’m going to be truly honest I’ve never properly been in love. I’ve never loved another person truly. I’ve never had the chance. There’s been the start of the flame, but it’s never had the opportunity to ignite.
I’ve always dreamt of having a relationship where we could be like best friends as well as partners. A soul mate. I’ve longed for this for such a time that I’m almost becoming numb to it. There was a period where I closed down my emotions to this side of myself because it was too painful. I was without.
The exciting thing is that I know the woman I’m going to be with is out there right now. She exists. She’s doing something right now. We’ll be together someday. We don’t even have to stay together forever. I just want to know what true love feels like. I’d be content with an amazing 5 year relationship. Any more of course would be a privilege.
I want to be so in love with someone that if they ever left me I’d apologise because clearly, I hadn’t made them happy enough. It feels mad already talking about the potential end of a relationship before it even starts! I do see however that if you truly love someone you could feel almost happy if they have to leave because they’re doing what’s best for them. Anyway, let’s hope she stays as she’s probably going to end up reading this!
I see a brunette. I’m quite happy to date anybody with any hair colour, I’ve just always pictured a brunette woman. I’ve been on dating sites for nearly a year now without a single date. I’m quite happy to be patient. I feel good that I’m actually actively doing something in regards to meeting somebody. Wherever you are, one day we’ll be together and I promise to make you as happy as I possibly can.
Big Goal Number 6: Reach 100,000 Subscribers on YouTube (Sustainability):
YouTube gives out awards for creators who reach a certain number of Subscribers. As it currently stands YouTube gives out awards for: 100,000 subscribers, 1 million subscribers and 10 million subscribers. My goal isn’t a number, it’s what the number represents. It’s the first proper award and milestone. 100,000 would mean I’d be well on the way to impacting as many people as I can.
This is where my true dream lies in regards to YouTube. Helping people, inspiring them and making them laugh. Bringing hope and entertainment. I want to be for others what my idols were for me. Sustainability is also another big goal of mine. It isn’t about the money, it’s about being able to keep going and to keep providing value. To be funded for what you love is a true privilege. Paid for passion. That’s the core foundation for most people’s dreams.
I will be opening the 100,000 Subscriber Silver Play Button on my YouTube channel. I’ll be thanking every single one of you! I cannot wait to show my family. I cannot wait to hold it up and see my own reflection in it. Knowing that I’ve made this happen.
Big Goal Number 7: Improve my comedy and reach my potential:
This is a strange one. I believe that our potential is unlimited (mine included!) I do however believe that there is a peak where I’d feel content in my efforts. In a similar vein to my exercise, I’m pretty sure I’ll instinctively know if I’m where I want to be. Whether that’s validated by achievements or just personal improvement. This goal is ultimately a by-product of the other ones, but still an important one and one I want to reach. Perhaps this is the goal that will take the longest to feel as if it has truly been achieved.
I’ve spent a lot of time to myself working out exactly what it is that I want out of life. I came up with a pretty succinct way to define my dreams:
‘My dream is to have my art as sustainable and as known as possible without compromising my core values or the art itself.’
Ultimately in my quest for success, it’s not just about me. It’s about providing value to others. I’m here as a source of inspiration, laughter and to show you what’s possible. In turn, giving you the confidence to chase your own dreams and ambitions no matter how big. To pursue your happiness.
Thank you for joining me on this journey. I cannot wait to start crossing out these big goals from the list. The big red marker pen is ready!
