Discipline Doesn’t Care About Your Feelings - (Instagram Musings #2)

I’ve started the journey and commitment to making my dreams a reality! — However, the process of getting started isn’t an easy one. Everybody says ‘just start’ but it’s more complicated than that. Starting a big pursuit in a sustainable way takes something more. You have to be in the correct mindset to be ready to make a true commitment. A commitment where discipline rules and excuses are a thing of the past. Where sacrifice is glory.

A true commitment is a big thing. A commitment where you dedicate a large proportion of your time and energy into something irrespective of how successful it is. Delivering on your promises to yourself, no matter how hard things get. That is a true commitment, and it’s not one that can be made lightly. This is why your mind must be in the right place to make such a vow. It took me a long time to get to that place. Lots of introspection and self-honesty. It was a tough and dark path to tread. I eventually came out of the darkness, changed but ready.

Confront your issues, get honest with yourself. Find what it is you really want. See it’s possible, then commit. Once your mind is on your side, your odds of success go up tenfold. Discipline, a clear head and vision will save you and guide you.

There will be days where things go wrong, but you have to carry on regardless.’ This is exactly why being ready to make a big and true commitment to something is a big deal. With your discipline, you’ll be forced to execute on your commitment irrespective of difficulty or imperfection.

Consistency is brutal because things aren’t always going to be as they should. It’s a real test of your interest towards your chosen commitment. If you love what you’re chasing enough, continuing to pursue through difficulty will be hard but doable. If it isn’t something you truly want/love then you’ll eventually burn out.

True commitments require unbreakable discipline. You have to remain loyal to your goals no matter what. There will be days you don’t feel like following through with your promises to yourself. Days where you feel physically and mentally exhausted. Days where you feel down, days when the vision doesn’t seem clear. Self-doubt. Personal issues. All of these things will occur during your pursuit of greatness. You have to embrace them and carry on regardless. Your discipline will not accept any excuses. You are capable, even if your mind is going through a rough patch.

It’s a real test to your interest towards a goal. When you push through these boundaries you slowly build toughness and self-respect. You handle things better. Pain hurts less when you’re chasing a vision. Keep moving, keep going. The light is out there.
